Marco Palmieri began his career as an IT Specialist at the age of twenty when he was still an engineering student and founded Mediacom, a company operating in the area of control systems of industrial processes through the recognition of forms. In 1987, he founded Piquadro and for the first ten years, the company produced leather goods for some of the most prestigious Italian companies until when, in 1997, Marco Palmieri decided to create the Piquadro brand and launched it on the Italian market.
In 2007 he successfully listed the Piquadro company on the Italian Stock Exchange where it is still listed.
In 2016 Piquardo successfully acquired the heritage Florentine leather brand The Bridge and subsequently, in June 2018, it completed the acquisition of the prestigious French brand of luxury leather goods Lancel, owned by the Richemont Group, and created an international group of about €150 million euro turnover.
The passion for the discovery of new talents led Marco Palmieri to found in 2005 Piqubo SpA, an investment company also active in financing new business activities. With the same purpose, in 2017 Palmieri launched MyStartup Funding Program, which promotes innovation and enterprise by rewarding with 100,000 euro the best business ideas in the area of technology applied to the luggage and fashion accessories industry.
Marco Palmieri is president of the Palmieri Family Foundation, founded with the aim of enhancing diversity through new business models, which allow people with disabilities to integrate into the world of work by expressing their particular creative ability.
In 2018, at the age of 53, Marco Palmieri was named Cavaliere del Lavoro
